A Rogue Within TDCJ’s Bureaucracy Changed My Release Date with Malice Aforethought to Get Me Murdered

A Rogue Within TDCJ’s Bureaucracy Changed My Release Date with Malice Aforethought to Get Me Murdered

Attention readers: Those interested can demand that the following officials in Huntsville’s Classification and Records department correct my release date to June 2 2026 or give a documented reason why the date was changed to June 1 2026 and can’t be changed back:

Rich Babcock, Director of Classification and Records

Timothy Fitzpatrick, Assistant Director of Classification and Records

Chelsea Johnson, Time Management

Melissa Bennett, Operations

Amanda Flynn, Inmate Transportation Division

Someone within TDCJ’s bureaucracy shaved a day off of my original release date in a conscious effort to get me killed before I leave. This is not only my belief, it is a fact that has been in the making for quite some time. It would also not surprise me if this is the same actor(s) within the SCC who wrongfully sent me to Telford unit in 2023 where they knew shank-weilding goons were vetted and impatiently waiting.

On June 2 2008 I was arrested and sent to the Tom Green county jail for Robbery. On October 7 2008 I was sentenced in state court to serve 18 years in TDCJ, with a max discharge date of June 2 2026. Joni White the former Assistant Director of Classification and Records also sent this same accurate information to the U.S. Marshals in 2009, who then sent me a copy. Sometime within the past three years someone with access and authority changed my release date to June 1 2026. Not long ago the TDCJ inmate search website was updated with “special” information that discloses the unit I will be released from (it specifically says Estelle unit) even though that won’t occur for another forty days, which gives bad actors more than enough time to plan.

The importance in me getting this false release date corrected has a lot to do with the transportation logistics and how a release date affects this. The release date determines the day I will be transferred to the Estelle unit to be processed out of TDCJ and into the custody of the U.S. Marshals enroute to a federal prison to start my next sentence.

For instance June 1 2026 is on a Monday. This means if TDCJ is allowed to transfer me under this bogus release date I will have to be transferred from where I’m at a week or so in advance and sent to stay the weekend at Beto unit or some other prison since TDCJ doesn’t do transfers on weekends and holidays and logistics won’t support me leaving here on Monday and arriving at Estelle unit the same day. What this does is give those involved with trying to kill me staged opportunities and multiple attempts as I will be under the purview and integrity of guards working at some of the most corrupt unit’s in Texas.

Beto unit is a key example as inmates roam whatever cellblock they please and those working in restricted housing are authorized (illegally) to do inmate head counts, pass out mail and open cell doors without the knowledge of guards who are usually away from their post doing other tasks because of staff shortages. By correcting my release date, the out day changes to Tuesday and allows me to leave from here Monday, shrinking the window I will be kept in limbo and avoiding a weekend layover.

This may seem like a petty adjustment, but I need to make it as hard and burdensome as possible for them to fulfill any planned attacks where I’m at a disadvantage or in hand and leg shackles. And what exposing this also does is weed out any officials who will try to suggest, in the event something happens to me, that it was an unfortunate mistake that happened through an accident in miscalculating my release date. The Powledge Unit warden was made aware of the mistake by a concerned citizen and asked to guarantee that my release date was June 1 2026. He said he couldn’t guarantee it and didn’t even feel a need to verify whatever it is. This should be a red flag.

To add context and give readers a better understanding on why I know my release date was changed with malice aforethought and not simply an error, I will reiterate three cases in point that give a deeper understanding on how far TDCJ staff will opportunistically go, which was set into motion because I published a report in 2018 about the deadly K2 epidemic at Telford unit. I would also like to note to skeptics that there are TDCJ documents that exist my supporters have read that admit investigations show TDCJ staff were involved with assisting inmates in some of the plots.

Though each of the three cases in point are documented in my classification file and one was investigated by the OIG at Michael unit as attempted murder, I never received any disciplinary punishment. This may seem like luck or a blessing, but it was not. What the failure to charge me criminally did was prevent the incidents from being entangled in the courts, call to question involved guards, kept uninvolved agencies within TDCJ out of the mix who would be obligated to respond and allowed my enemies to keep trying to finish unfinished business. Thus if I was in Ad Seg (solitary confinement) out of reach and put on trial things would be a lot harder.

In 2020 at the Bill Clements unit, a white supremacist group ordered two hopefuls, Ben McAlpine and Mark Johnson, to stab me in exchange for drugs and recruitment into their gang while all three of us were in single cells in 11 building. For reasons unknown the unit classification committee (not SCC) decided to move me in the cell with Johnson. Soon after, inmate kitchen workers slid the shank to him under the door and I was able to wrestle it away from him before he could do any damage. At his own call for help guards arrived, he handed over the drugs, admitted his role and we were separated. McAlpine also admitted his role in a statement after a shank and a note ordering him to stab me (I was mentioned by name) was found in his cell after Johnson mentioned him being an accomplice.

To solve the matter I was transferred to Michael unit where a message to finish me arrived before I did. During lockdown on January 1 2021 an inmate was paid in K2 to kill me with a homemade sledge hammer another inmate gave him as others broke out of their cells to witness the melee. Not only did things not go as they planned I snatched the hammer away after being struck and beat him unconscious. The spectators that had gathered as witnesses turned to panicking inmates screaming for guard assistance.

The OIG and disciplinary office investigated the incident, ruled it as self defense since there were witnesses and surveillance cameras, and transferred me to Boyd unit where I didn’t stay long. While we were boarding the transportation bus to leave Boyd unit I ended up having to shimmy out of my handcuffs, take another inmates shank who threatened to stab me a day before and stab him in the cheek as he dropped it while removing his own handcuffs.

These events are probative to the changed release date because they are examples of the creativity level used to try and harm me. The more I got away the more increasingly creative they got in trying to get me, which included contacting me through securus. We must not forget the wardens, ranking staff and their inmate lackeys I left behind as I navigated their gauntlet for years, while documenting and exposing it without any protection besides outside supporters.

We also must not forget about the arrests of former Telford unit Captain Jessica Nichole Ricks, her subordinates and their inmate lackeys who tried to attack me, but were ultimately caught doing something else. This shows how pervasive corruption in TDCJ can get. Which is why the reason my release date was changed shouldn’t be underestimated, but questioned fully. I am asking the media to please monitor my release.
