CLEMENTS UNIT GUARD THREATENS TO RETALIATE BECAUSE I’M SPEAKING OUT ABOUT COVID-19 AT THE PRISON

By Jason Renard Walker, NABPP Minister of Labor

Through out the years, I’ve been the victim of false disciplinary cases; assault by racist staff; destruction of legal property and personal property; yet I managed to get the false cases thrown out, staff members fired and proof that these acts are the primary and proximate result of retaliatory conduct for my undaunted effort to expose bad prison conditions and foul guards.

EXHIBIT A- CASE IN POINT

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I tediously wrote several articles depicting how staff have responded and failed to respond to officers who should have been quarantined, but were allowed to continue working. One such guard, officer Ray, was mentioned in the Amarillo Globe News as having come into contact with the virus. The Globe also mentioned me as the conveyor of this information. I never spoke with the Amarillo Globe.

Out of sheer anger, for being exposed, Ray told a prisoner that he would “get the motherfucker next door to you” (meaning me) for mentioning his name and the rumors. But if one looks at the actual article I wrote: The COVID-19 Coverup. It states in part “It was said that Ray was sent to the hospital” and “His test for the Coronavirus is said to have come back positive”. Not only did my wording clearly state that the information was from a possible rumor monger but external evidence i.e. guards pointing the finger at Ray, his temporary departure from the pod, B-pod getting locked down by itself, puts the entire article and Amarillo Globe’s right to use it into context. Plus Ray looked sick.

Not only will Ray fail to prevail on bringing suit against the Globe, I’m completely immune from civil suits as an incarcerated individual. I am not immune from malicious retaliation though.

So I ask all readers of this post to contact the Clements unit head warden, (806) 381-7080 and demand that I receive separation from officer Ray, by barring him from searching my cell, inventorying my property, serving and touching my food and thoroughly investigate any disciplinary case I receive from him, or from Sgt Crystal Rust, Officer Duran, Sgt Rodriguez, Lt Mogilnicki, Cpt Judd and Ray’s co-workers that happen to work with him while he works the pod I’m housed on.

Since I personally heard Ray use very uncandid language emphasizing that he would get me, I ask all readers to take this matter seriously and file complaints (ombudsman@tdcj.texas.gov ) so that Ray is aware that his retaliatory agenda will be monitored.

Dare to struggle, Dare to win!

All power to the people!
